About Turfhall

NPO no:

Turfhall Cheshire Home opened its doors for the first time on 11 November 1984.  The Home is registered and provides full time residential care to 60 profoundly physically disabled adults (quadriplegic)  from previously disadvantaged communities from all over the Western Cape Province.

Due to the high level of care required, the cost of operating this facility is demanding.  Because of the serious limitations on funding, raising funds to make ends meet remains a huge challenge.

Fortunately, we have a large flat plot of ground, well suited to wheelchair mobility.  The Homes has a big garden, Independent Living cottages, a Charity Shop and a Workshop where dried flowers are manufactured.  We also have easily accessible parking for visitors.

Almost one third of our residents regularly sell raffle tickets at shopping centres nearby and further afield.  In this way they raise ten percent of Home operating expenditure.  Also we have loyal, well skilled staff who help raise funds and take good care of sixty residents, seven days a week, night and day.
